What is a Reverse Mortgage?

A reverse mortgage is a loan that lets homeowners age 62 and older access a portion of their home equity without a monthly mortgage payment, while continuing to live in the home.

The loan is repaid when the home is sold, the borrower moves out, or the loan otherwise becomes due. Borrowers remain responsible for property taxes, insurance, HOA dues, and home maintenance.
